Lower School Music

Lower School Music is a fun and rewarding part of early education. Students learn about matching pitch, steady beat, rhythmic ostinato, and other musical fundamentals. They play and create rhythms on a variety of drum and percussion instruments. Musical concepts are built upon through play in singing, games, and dances. Older students love the challenge of learning to play the recorder. Productions throughout the year allow the opportunity for these young artists to demonstrate their new skills and growing love for music.

Choirs

Intermediate Choir is comprised of students in Grades 7 and 8. The students learn healthy vocal techniques, ear training theory, and sight-singing, which they use to develop a variety of repertoire written specifically for the needs of the changing voice.  The choir enjoys several performance opportunities throughout the year as well as attendance at festivals and competitions.

The Upper School Choir is comprised of students in Grades 9 through 12. The students learn healthy vocal techniques, ear training, sight-singing, theory, and a variety of choral literature. They perform regularly at school concerts, chapels, and at various festivals and competitions. Outstanding students have the opportunity to participate in solo and ensemble selections as well as with the full choir.

Worship Team

The Worship Team is comprised of skillful musicians who have evidenced spiritual leadership. The students continue to develop their knowledge of healthy vocal techniques, ear training, live sound reinforcement, and a variety of contemporary corporate worship songs. The focus of this class is to understand the importance of servant leadership and to apply what has been learned through leading worship at our weekly chapels.
